Every two years, we honor the sustainability efforts that take place in our plants around the world. We continue to be impressed by the dedication of our employees to conserve resources, enhance safety and productivity and support their local communities and are pleased to recognize a small sample of activities through this program.

Environmental Sustainability Award

Our beverage can plant in Dubai, UAE decreased its landfill contribution by 65% and its carbon footprint by 12% between 2016 and 2017.

Economic Sustainability Award

The team at our Izmit, Turkey beverage can plant improved groundwater quality and decreased overall energy use from 81,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) to 6,300 kWh.

Social Sustainability Award

Employees in our beverage packaging plant in Acayucan, Mexico supported local women with health education and professional development programs, and reduced the facility’s serious injuries rate to zero.

Reducing Waste

Our Virton, Belgium facility revalorized an incredible 90% of the waste from its stretch film manufacturing, turning it into material that could be used again. The plant has also consistently reduced its CO2 footprint and water use and has established voluntary targets in its municipality to reduce energy consumption by 7.2% within five years.

Supporting Health and Well-Being

Our Sriracha, Thailand facility has been celebrated with multiple external awards for its employee relations activities and work in the local community. The plant has also promoted well-being among its employees and has taken steps to enhance the environmental sustainability of its manufacturing lines.

Aluminum consumption is on a four-year downward trend, even as we have increased production of beverage cans by almost 10% in that period. We continue to improve our resource efficiency and have consistently lowered our direct and indirect GHG emissions, energy consumption and VOC emissions per standard unit.
